At Reverie Autos, we want every customer to buy with confidence. This policy explains your legal rights and how returns, cancellations, and warranty claims work when you buy a vehicle from us - whether in person at our showroom or remotely (by phone, video viewing, or home delivery).

1. Your Statutory Rights (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

If you are a consumer (buying as an individual, not a business), every vehicle we sell must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality - taking into account its age, mileage, and price
  • As described - matching the advertised specification, condition, and history
  • Fit for purpose - roadworthy and usable as a normal car

Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are:

Timeframe Your Right
First 30 days If the car develops a fault that breaches the above, you can reject it for a full refund.
Days 31-180 We get one opportunity to repair or replace the fault. If unsuccessful, you may be entitled to a refund or replacement (a deduction may apply for use/mileage).
After 6 months You may still have a claim, but you'll need to demonstrate the fault existed at the time of sale (e.g. an independent inspection report).

This policy does not affect these legal rights in any way - it works alongside them.

2. Distance & Remote Sales

If you reserve or purchase a vehicle without attending our showroom in person before the contract is made (e.g. by phone, online, or after only a video viewing, with the car then delivered to you), the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 would normally give a 14-day cancellation right for a change of mind, starting the day after you receive the vehicle.

Exemption for vehicles: Motor vehicles are subject to constant market price fluctuation. Under the Regulations, this recognised exemption means the standard 14-day "change of mind" cancellation right does not apply to vehicle sales. Reverie Autos does not offer a change-of-mind cancellation right on distance vehicle sales, in line with this exemption.

This does not affect your statutory rights under Section 1 above (faulty or misdescribed goods), which always apply regardless of how the sale was made.

This section does not apply if you viewed and collected the vehicle in person at our showroom before agreeing to buy - in that case there was no distance sale to begin with.

3. Deposits

Deposits taken to reserve a vehicle prior to purchase are fully refundable if you decide not to proceed, provided the vehicle has not yet been collected/delivered and no contract of sale has completed. Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 48 working hours.

4. Returning a Vehicle - Process & Costs

If you are entitled to return a vehicle (whether under Section 1 statutory rights or an approved return):

  • Contact us at [email protected] or +44 7926 921182 as soon as possible to notify us.
  • We'll confirm the return route, any required documentation (e.g. V5C logbook, service history, all keys), and next steps.
  • The customer is responsible for returning the vehicle to Reverie Autos, including arranging and paying for transport back to our Hatfield premises, unless the return is due to a manufacturing/mechanical fault covered under Section 1, in which case reasonable return costs will be agreed with you.
  • Once the vehicle and all required documentation (V5C, keys, service history) have been received and inspected, eligible refunds will be processed within 48 working hours.

5. Warranty

All vehicles are sold with a 90-day (3-month) back-to-dealer warranty as standard. This means any warranty work is carried out at our Hatfield premises - the vehicle must be brought or returned to us; this is not a mobile or collection warranty service. The warranty does not cover wear-and-tear items (e.g. tyres, brake pads, bulbs) or damage caused by misuse, accident, or lack of maintenance after purchase. Full warranty terms and exclusions are provided at the point of sale.

Customers have the option to extend their cover with additional warranty products at an extra cost, giving longer or wider protection beyond the standard 3 months. Details and pricing of these upgrade options are available from our sales team at the point of sale.

Warranty cover is in addition to, and does not replace, your statutory rights under Section 1.

6. Part-Exchange Vehicles

If your purchase involved a part-exchange, once the transaction has completed and ownership of your part-exchange vehicle has transferred to Reverie Autos, that part-exchange is final and non-reversible, except where required by law.

7. Faults Found After Purchase

If you believe your vehicle has developed a genuine fault, please contact us immediately at [email protected] or +44 7926 921182 with details and, where possible, photos or a description of the issue. We aim to respond to all queries within 14 days and will always look to resolve issues fairly and promptly, in line with our statutory obligations and our reputation for honest, transparent service.
